Created in 1997, Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is a provincial non-profit organization committed to increasing women’s participation in trades and technology. With private and public funding, WRDC offers a variety of programs and services to address the challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention and advancement of women in these careers. Our charitable arm, the Educational Resource Centre (ERC), was created in 2002, to provide hands-on learning and career exploration opportunities for younger women and girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

 

Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Director, Gender and DEI Services, the Gender & DEI Content Creation Specialist is an exceptional communicator instrumental in researching, curating and transforming best practices and information into focused content and presentations related to Gender, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The Gender & DEI Content Creation Specialist will possess exceptional communication skills, both written and visual and will excel in crafting impactful documents and presentations using tools such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. They have a deep understanding of Gender, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and are able to convey complex topics in an accessible and engaging way.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Conduct thorough research to gather insights and best practices related to Gender, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from a variety of sources.
  • Curate and synthesize gathered information into user-friendly, impactful documents tailored to address DEI topics for diverse audiences.
  • Utilize established materials to craft innovative products tailored for specific purposes, such as creating concise one-pagers for Learning Management Systems (LMS) to enhance accessibility and engagement.
  • Proficiently transform raw content into polished documents by applying consistent formatting, style guidelines, and layout principles, ensuring the final product is professional, visually appealing, and ready for publication.
  • Edit materials to prioritize accessibility. Implement inclusive design practices to ensure content is easy to read and comprehend, catering to individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning preferences.
  • Craft visually dynamic, accessible, inclusive and engaging PowerPoint presentations. Ensure consistency in tone, style, and branding.
  • Integrate trauma informed principles in all work to ensure safe and inclusive products and materials.
  • Utilize templates to generate comprehensive and accurate monthly training reports
  • Other duties as requested

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven expertise in crafting impactful documents and presentations.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail and grammar.
  • Exceptional Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to create visually appealing and polished content.
  • Strong organizational capabilities, managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, working effectively within the WRDC team and with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with graphic design principles and tools is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of DEI concepts, issues, and best practices
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and evolving project requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Related experience in the not-for-profit sector, and/or women centered organizations is considered an asset
  • Business travel insurance coverage is required for this role and will be reimbursed in accordance with WRDC policies
  • Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon employment and every two years there after

 

Work Environment

 

  • Hybrid / Remote / Flexible work environment
  • Travel is not expected for this role.

Salary Range:  $45,000 – $55,000 per annum. WRDC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.  Starting salary will commensurate with experience and skills.
