Canada Summer Games 2025: The Power of Volunteerism

The 2025 Canada Games Volunteer Survey reflects a highly positive and meaningful experience among the 1,090 individuals who contributed their time and energy, reinforcing the essential role volunteers play in delivering national events of this scale. The vast majority of respondents rated their experience as good to excellent, with 92% indicating they are likely to volunteer again, a strong signal of both satisfaction and sustained engagement.

Beyond these metrics, the findings highlight something more enduring. Volunteers consistently described a strong sense of community, teamwork, and shared purpose, supported by an environment that was welcoming, organized, and encouraging. The experience was not only about contributing time, but about being part of something collective and impactful.

The Games also strengthened a broader sense of civic pride and connection. Volunteers spoke to the significance of helping showcase St. John’s—and Newfoundland and Labrador more broadly, on a national stage. Their contributions helped highlight the province’s culture, hospitality, and capacity to successfully host large-scale events.

Importantly, the impact extended beyond the event itself. The Games brought people together, deepened community engagement, and reinforced confidence in the province’s ability to mobilize, collaborate, and deliver at a high level.

Taken together, these insights point to more than a successful volunteer program. They demonstrate how volunteerism serves as a critical foundation for community strength, building connection, fostering pride, and contributing to a lasting legacy that extends well beyond the event.
