The St. John's branch sponsors many activities related to Scottish country dancing. Classes are available for beginning and experienced dancers. Socials, with music provided by the branch band Corryvreckan, are held several times during the year to provide more formal occasions to enjoy Scottish country dancing.
The Sean Nos Dancing Troupe features a traditional style of dancing that originated in the Connemara region (west coast of Ireland). The low to ground stepping out to the music, is very relaxed and similar to tap dance. Sean Nos dancing is a very impromptu, rhythmic, and low key accompaniment to a lively traditional Irish band. The footwork "battering" is great fun to watch and listen to. These are typically done as a solo performer or in very small groups and are well suited to all ages.

Welcome to VOWR Radio, located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. VOWR is the only radio station owned by The United Church of Canada and has been broadcasting from the same location (Patrick Street and Hamilton Avenue) since 1924. Our station began as an outreach ministry of Wesley United Church and was the 'child' of Rev. Dr. J.G. Joyce.
