As a First Nations Band Council, the St. Georges Indian Band strives to promote cultural awareness and a sense of pride in our Mikmaq heritage. Our priorities include education, health, economic development, improved housing, cultural enhancement, tourism and recreation.
The Port au Port Indian Band was incorporated on November 20, 2003. Today it works towards the cultural, social, economic, and educational interests of its members. A chief and six councilors manage band affairs
The Kitpu First Nation Mi'kmaq community was formed in 2004 to fill the void created by the lack of representation by leaders that did not represent the best interests of our people. It is a coming together of a people divided and a people who were abandoned. Our people want and deserve honest, transparent and honourable leaders that will fight for the interests of all our people.
As a First Nations Band Council, the St. Georges Indian Band strives to promote cultural awareness and a sense of pride in our Mikmaq heritage. The Band currently represents approximately 1700 members inside the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, with another 500 outside the province.
