St. James' has been continuously utilized as a place of worship since its construction. The building was designated a Registered Heritage Structure on September 15th, 2001 by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Cow Head Anglican Parish consists of four congregations; St. Peter- Parsons Pond, St. Mary the Virgin- Cow Head, St. Paul- St. Paul`s and St. Alban- Sally`s Cove.
The origins of this Parish go back to the early 17th century with the arrival of the first priest of the Church of England in c. 1613, as part of the colonization of John guy's colony of Cuper's Cove . After a number of years, the missionaries moved from Cupids i.e., Burnt Head, to other parts of the Avalon.The Parish existed for years as a 4-point Parish involving Brigus, South River, Cupids and Makinsons and has undergone several name changes in its history. In the winter of 2006, the new parish of the Resurrection moved into its New House for the Church, located at the crossroads of Makinsons, South River and Cupids/Brigus.

All Saints Church in Fortune and St. Mary the Virgin in Lamaline make up the Anglican Parish of Fortune-Lamaline. Holy Eucharist takes place every Sunday at 11:00am except for the third Sunday of the month. On the third Sunday of each month, Holy Communion takes place at 9:00am and there is a service at 11:00am.

The Anglican congregation does not own a church building, but worships in the Northwest River United Church, a lovely structure built in 1933. We take our turn holding services there as do the United Church, the Moravian Church and the Salvation Army. We find that our congregation is usually ecumenical, including people from these three denominations; as there is only one service per week, the regular church-going residents of NWR will come to worship no matter which denomination is holding the service that day.
Guided by Holy Scripture and the Holy Spirit, we the congregation of Holy Trinity pledge our lives to Christ. Through worship, love, and service to one another, we will bring witness and encouragement to the community.
