The Mokami Status of Women Council is an equality seeking organization that links women by sharing ideas, resources, skills, experience and knowledge. We aim to enhance the ability of Labradors women to question, lead, work, celebrate and participate fully in safe, healthy communities. MSWC is the umbrella organization for Thrifty Fashions and The Women's Centre.

The Women's Institute has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for its residents through community service work in hospitals, economic development and community training. They have also been the mind and the heart behind the Labrador Straits Museum through its conceptualization, development and operation. As proud members of the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada and the Associated Country Women of the World, the women of the Labrador Straits continue to work for the betterment of the place they call home.
