The Town of Gillams is served by a dedicated group of seventeen volunteer Fire Fighters who give freely of their time and energy to help protect residents and their property from the ravages of fire.Weekly meetings are held Monday nights at the Fire Hall at 8:00 p.m.

The Corner Brook Minor Hockey Association exists for the purpose of offering to all students of the Corner Brook/Bay of Islands area a quality program in hockey.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Corner Brook at the Pepsi Centre (third floor). It is a hockey shrine that honors and pays tribute to the many players, builders and media personnel who have made an outstanding contribution to our great game. The Hall also houses some popular memorabilia and artifacts.
