Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council is a provincial, non-profit, volunteer organization. We are committed to raising the literacy level of Newfoundland society
Deer Lake is home to a wide variety of recreational facilities and for all ages. The Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex houses the communitys ice surface along with an indoor swimming pool, and the Humber River Lanes bowling alley. Current organizations that operate in the complex are Deer Lake Minor Hockey Association, Deer Lake Figure Skating Club, and the Deer Lake Dolphins Swim Team. Several other recreational leagues take advantage of the ice surface and Humber Lanes bowling alley. Deer Lake also has many other recreational facilities

Massey Drive Recreation Committee is a volunteer group that dedicates their time to plan and hold family functions in the town. Every year the volunteers promote family recreation through the Winter Carnival, Christmas parade, etc. These functions help raise funds to assist council in recreational projects.
