Anglican Church Parish – Goose Bay Happy Valley-Goose Bay

Objective:

The Anglican congregation does not own a church building, but worships in the Northwest River United Church, a lovely structure built in 1933. We take our turn holding services there as do the United Church, the Moravian Church and the Salvation Army. We find that our congregation is usually ecumenical, including people from these three denominations; as there is only one service per week, the regular church-going residents of NWR will come to worship no matter which denomination is holding the service that day.

Anglican Church Parish – Norman Bay Mary's Harbour

Objective:

The parish extends from Lodge Bay in the south to Norman Bay in the north. Since the early 1990's and the Cod Moratorium, the parish has been reduced to eight congregations, six of which have been accessible by road since 2001. The community of Battle Harbour itself, from which the parish takes its name, is no longer inhabited - but rather an impressive tourist attraction. Although services are no longer held there, St. James Anglican Church has been fully restored and is well worth a visit.
