SAM works with the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture in NL to secure, enhance, & restore important wildlife habitat (wetlands, uplands, coastal areas, & species at risk habitat) within municipal planning boundaries. As a network of communities who practice environmental stewardship across NL, SAM contributes to maintaining & enhancing biodiversity in the province.
This association meets on a regular basis to reinforce the concept of stewardship, to foster a sense of camaraderie between stewardship communities and to help promote a sense of pride in their achievements.Carmanville participates in a bird-banding program where birds are captured in traps, fitted with metal leg bands, and released. Carmanville Pond is shallow and nutrient-rich, and supports extensive growth of aquatic vegetation and associated invertebrates. Primary vegetation includes cattail and horsetail, providing excellent habitat for dabbling ducks that use the area for nesting, brood rearing, and staging.

Since its establishment more than 20 years ago, the Grenfell Campus Student Union has fought for the rights of its members - all students who attend Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland. Through campaigns and advocacy work, the Union works to ensure that university education is accessible and of high quality, and that it is responsive to the interests and needs of students.The Union also provides services for members to save you money and make your time at Grenfell productive and memorable. Your health and dental plan, handbook, and The GCSU Backlot are all provided by the Union.

The Gander Lakers Swim Club is a competitve swim club. In addition to the competitive swim club, there is a junior program (pre-competitive) to prepare those who may wish to move to the competitive team once they have completed the pre-competitve sessions (maximum 4 sessions).
