Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues (WJB) is a non-profit arts organization based in St. Johns, NL in its tenth year of operation. The goal of WJB is to foster and sustain an appreciation of creative music in our community, primarily jazz, blues and world music.
Founded in 1987, the Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador (WANL) contributes to a supportive environment for writing in the province; works to nurture and inspire writers at all levels and stages of their careers; fosters public recognition of NL writers; advocates for the well-being of writers; and promotes the enhancement of the literary arts in the province and beyond.
Xavier House opened in September 1985 as a Level One Personal Care Home for adults with mental illness, offering supervised care for up to 20 persons.Xavier House is open to persons with mental illness who are seeking a supervised setting and support in their efforts to remain well, and who are willing to participate in activities planned for the well being of all residents. Inspired by the Gospel values of justice and compassion, Xavier House exists as a Christian community of hospitality and service where, in an atmosphere of love, healing and joy, all receive respect, dignity and professional care and are challenged to personal growth and wholeness.
