The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring strong administrative systems, reliable financial processes, and seamless coordination across the organization. From supporting governance and executive operations to maintaining the integrity of financial records, this position is essential to CSCNL’s ability to deliver impact across Newfoundland and Labrador.

What you can expect in the role:

Office Administration (30%)

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, creating a welcoming and professional first impression for CSCNL.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and general inquiries, responding to routine questions or directing to the appropriate colleague.
  • Maintain and organize office filing systems (digital and physical).
  • Support general office operations and assist staff with administrative needs related to meetings, events, and projects.

Executive and Governance Support (20%)

  • Provide executive administrative support to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, including scheduling, meeting coordination, and document preparation.
  • Support the Board of Directors by coordinating meeting logistics, supporting the preparation of board materials, recording meeting minutes and distributing documentation.
  • Maintain governance records and ensure board documentation is properly archived.

Finance and Accounting Support (50%)

  • Process accounts payable, maintain vendor records, and ensure financial documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements and assist with regular banking activities and deposits.
  • Code expenses to the appropriate projects and support the tracking of project budgets.
  • Assist in preparing basic financial reports and maintaining organized financial records.
  • Support the transition to new accounting software and contribute to improving internal financial policies, procedures, and administrative processes.

What you bring to the table:

We know talent comes from many places, and the following are suggested qualifications rather than strict requirements. If you see yourself in this role, we encourage you to apply.

  • Diploma or certificate in Office Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Experience with basic accounting or bookkeeping functions or a demonstrated willingness to learn and develop these skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff, board members, and external partners.
  • Comfort using, or a strong interest in learning, modern digital tools and platforms (e.g., Slack, Canva, cloud-based systems, and AI-enabled productivity tools) to improve communication, organization, and team workflow.

What we bring to the table:

This is a one-year position with the opportunity for renewal. Continuation will be determined by organizational sustainability and alignment with strategic goals. Willingness to travel and use of a personal vehicle may be required, but accommodations can be provided. While remote work arrangements can be considered, we anticipate this role benefiting from regular in-office presence and will give preference to candidates located in or able to work from the metro office.

CSCNL provides a competitive total compensation package:

  • This is a full-time position with an annual salary starting at $50,000.
  • Enrollment in our Health and Dental program
  • Employer-Employee shared contributions to our pension plan
  • Three weeks annual leave in addition to 10 days wellness leave, plus recognized statutory holidays.
  • Cultural leave of up to 3-days for observation of religious holidays plus other leave provisions.
  • Flexible work arrangements based on a 35-hour work week.

What you can expect from the interview process:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the right candidate is found. Interviews will begin in April/May. As this is a competitive process, no phone calls please, instead email your application to info@cscnl.ca

Recognizing interviewing is a time-intensive process, we will be providing interview questions in advance for those chosen and compensating interviewees with $50 for their time. All interviewees will receive a response and can request feedback.

At CSCNL, we are committed to creating a respectful, inclusive, and barrier-free workplace that allows all of our people to reach their full potential. We welcome all interested candidates to apply and encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the above requirements. Candidates who have an equivalent level of transferrable skills and experience would be considered and encouraged to apply.

CSCNL is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We foster a workplace that values all individuals irrespective of their background and encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply. Self-identification is optional, and accommodations can be requested during recruitment and assessment processes.
